Celebrate America
September 15, 2013

NBACA President, Art Rice reported that everyone had a good time, a good turn out, and a lot of activities at the Celebrate America event this year, even though it was cut short by a thunderstorm. Approximately 30 U.S. military veterans were honored at Sunday's event.  They collected close to $200 with the Adorable Legs Contest to be donated towards next years Central Missouri Honor Flight trip to Washington DC, awarded many fine prizes, and collected funds for scholarships and other civic activities for the next fiscal year.  Singer, Lydia Garwood, was excellent and ended up as the main event of the day.  A few pictures of the event can be seen HERE.  As more pictures become available they will be posted.  Art Rice won the Adorable Legs Contest and raised the most money for the Honor Flight program.

8th Annual Callaway County Vintage Tractor Drive
August 24, 2013

A total of 63 old tractors rumbled through the back roads of Callaway County along the Missouri River during the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society’s eighth annual Vintage Tractor Drive.
The old tractors gathered at the New Bloomfield Lions Club Park where participants ate breakfast before traveling Callaway County back roads to the Tebbetts Community Center for cookies and refreshments. The group then traveled along the Missouri River to Cedar City for a pork steak lunch and then headed back to New Bloomfield for home-made ice cream in the afternoon.

The driver and owner of the oldest vintage tractor in the event was Kenneth L. Martin of New Bloomfield. He drove a 1939 Farmall H tractor.
The Thompson family of New Bloomfield, shared the trip by each driving their own tractor.   At age 77, Norman Thompson was one of the oldest drivers participating in the event. He drove a Farmall H tractor.  His daughter Dana drove a Farmall B, his son David drove a Farmall MD diesel, and Steve Thompson drove a Farmall 806 diesel.  You can read this whole story in the Fulton Sun article written by Don Norfleet HERE.  Photos of the event are shown below, courtesy of the Fulton Sun and Don Norfleet.
